1965年,ASID、IDI和IDEA三个协会经过长期的协商,整合成为美国工业设计师协会(The Industrial Designers society of America,简称IDSA),协会的首任主席是亨利·德雷夫斯,约翰·瓦索斯则担任董事会主席,合并的时候,IDSA有600多位会员,在全美分设10个分部。进入21世纪以来,该协会已经发展到3300多位成员,分设28个分部,并开始接受国际成员,并于每年评选年度优秀设计大奖(Industrial Design Excellence Award),对于推动美国的工业设计发展,起到重要作用。
